In der Internationalen Raumstation ISS ist es am Montag zu einem Problem bei der Stromversorgung gekommen. Es bestehe aber keine unmittelbare Gefahr für die Besatzung, teilte die US-Luft- und Raumfahrtbehörde NASA mit. Es werde an der Ermittlung der Ursachen gearbeitet.

On April 29, the space station team identified an issue with one of the station’s Main Bus Switching Units that distributes power to two of the eight power channels on the station. There are no immediate concerns for the crew or the station. Teams are working on a plan to robotically replace the failed unit and restore full power to the station system. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. The earliest possible launch opportunity is no earlier than Friday, May 3.

The Giant Galaxy Around the Giant Black Hole
On April 10, 2019, the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) unveiled the first-ever image of a black hole’s event horizon, the area beyond which light cannot escape the immense gravity of the black hole. That giant black hole, with a mass of 6.5 billion Suns, is located in the elliptical galaxy Messier 87 (M87). EHT is an international collaboration whose support in the U.S. includes the National Science Foundation.

Blue Origin is apparently set to make a big announcement next week, and the only clue we have to go on is a photo of famed Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance.
